Whalephant Shirt (women's)
"How did the whale and the elephant mate, in order to produce such a studious, blubbery creature?" That's what I've been asked when wearing my whalephant shirt. And now you too can be prompted into such steamy speculations when rocking your shirt. I made this drawing in college, when my friend built me a website called "doodle-a.com" where visitors would type in suggestions for what I should draw. It was a fun way to crowdsource ideas and, in choice cases, bring people's wacky imaginings to life. Among such zesty scenarios as "doodle a giant tic-tac-toe box ravaging a tribe of space warrior goats" and "doodle the cd cover for the incredible hulk's gangsta rap album" was what my sister and her then-boyfriend suggested: "doodle a whalephant doing a crossword puzzle." The creature is a hybrid of their respective favorite animals doing one of their favorite pastimes. And voila! The whalephant lives, forever frozenly focused on his prehensile, monday morning hobby (Sunday's difficulty level is still a few generations of selective breeding away). We thought about making shirts from some of the top doodles, and the whalephant is the first on the scene. These are American Apparel shirts, printed in California.
